Rich Hyer is a lifelong Ogden resident, community leader, and public servant committed to strengthening Weber County through integrity, responsibility, and service. Rich is the father of six children, and the proud grandfather of eighteen grandchildren, including foster children adopted into his family.

At just 13 years old, Rich discovered a passion for jewelry that grew into a successful wholesale jewelry business that launched in 1980. Supported by his wife from the beginning, he trained at Jewelmont Corporation in Minnesota and graduated at the top of his class from the Gemological Institute of America. This allowed him to build a career rooted in craftsmanship, discipline, and trust.

Rich Hyer attended Horace Mann Elementary, Highland Jr. High and graduated from Ben Lomond High. He is deeply rooted in Ogden and Weber County, having lived, worked, and served here while helping shape the community’s growth for decades. Rich served 17 years as a Bishop and Stake President, strengthening his ability to unite people, solve problems, and serve families with compassion and integrity. Rich also volunteered as Wood Badge Coordinator for the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Vice President over relationships, making sure the needs were met for all faith-based troops.

Rich has spent more than 20 years serving Weber County, first on the Ogden Planning Commission and now on the Ogden City Council, where he currently serves as Chair.
